Results ~ Sept. battle # 2: Never Tear Us Apart

Welcome to RESULTS DAY for Battle of the Bands!!

I am dc ~ relief, and my battle featured... the INXS song - 'Never Tear Us Apart.'

However if you go back and read the comments, I could rename the battle,  'Ripped to shreds.' Yes sirs, and madams... no stone was left unturned. Still I consider it to be a GREAT Battle, even though it was almost a landslide.

Votes, votes, votes.... slam-dunk!

I threw a dog biscuit to Joe Cocker, after all it was my fault he got pitted against a doberman.

Joe Cocker - 4 votes

Paloma Faith - 15 votes

Thank you for your participation - votes and comments were greatly appreciated!!

Let's not forget... thank you to our event hosts:

  1. I voted for the winner and the votes may have created a landslide. However, I think Joe's version is enjoyable. I look forward to your next battle!

    1. I agree, Mike. In the end I did enjoy Joe's version. I think Lee said it best with 'Paloma's different interpretation.'

October is so close; might as well spend the night here!

    1. Alex - ironically, I'm not even a Joe Cocker fan. Ha!

  3. Ah Dixie... sometimes it just goes like that.

All you can do is fire up the machine and come up with another great battle for next time:)

    1. Robin - strangely I'm not disappointed. It was a breath of fresh, freakish air! I loved the crazy comment descriptions more than anything. We have some funny people!!

  4. Again I voted with the majority. Joe Cocker had good musicians behind him, but I guess he is not a favorite of many of us.

    1. Lee, Most of the comments for Joe indicated this song didn't suit him/his style. It was pretty laid back for Joe.

Yep, you were amongst the big list > Paloma!

  6. I wasn't expecting it to be this one sided. I voted for Joe and seem to have a losing record in many of these battles. Better luck next time. ☺

    1. Me either, Debbie. I had another challenger but chose not to use them at the last week. Oh well.

Glad you were here and voted!

  7. DIXIE PIGTAIL POLKA ~
Even though I voted for Linda Paloma (er... I mean, Paloma Faith. 'Linda Paloma' is a Jackson Browne song), I was surprised by this outcome.

Joe Cocker is such a BIG NAME in music that I figured he'd win just by showing up (when The Beatles didn't).

I'm not really wild about the song, or either performer, but I thought Lind-- uh... I thought Paloma was better. And since I'm not a Joe man, he just isn't likely to get my vote in a BOTB very often anyway.

But I gotta hand it to yer voters. They seemed to put aside "reputation" and vote according to their honest ears. I don't believe BOTBs always go that way. I think sometimes "reputation" trumps "honest opinion".

    >>... I could rename the battle, 'Ripped to shreds.'

    Ha!-Ha! Great line!

I look forward to yer NOVEMBER 1st BATTLE. Maybe it'll be Jackson Browne Vs. Linda... Ronstadt?

    2. ~D-FensDogG - I've heard the song 'Linda Paloma'. That's funny!

I wasn't expecting this turnout either > one never knows. But I felt so gosh darn guilty for Joe's lack of draw... I had to vote for him.

      November?
