Lemme see ya feet hit the floor!

So I was lounging out, waiting for my next A-Z post to come out when I realized... oh good grief... tomorrow is also a regular blog hop day for me. Every Friday, I'm part of the 'Celebrate the Small Things' blog hop.

That means I've got 13 minutes to list what I'm celebrating from this week, and add it to my A-Z post!!! And what happened to Monday - Thursday? (Well, no I don't have to talk about Monday - Thursday, but you understand?)

Got my post changed out - adding in my celebrate stuff and now I'm wide awake. That lounge mood has left, but I thought to recapture it. Who will lead me home?

Mr. Al Jarreau ... Let's spin him and see if I can start counting sheep?!

Okay, for those just waking up... there's this...

  1. Hi, Dixie! I loved the TV series Moonlighting and love the smooth grooves laid down by soulful jazz singer Al Jarreau during the last quarter of the 20th century. I worked as head of production at an MTV-style TV station and we played Al's videos frequently. Remember the war themed video for "Raging Waters"?

Have a great weekend, dear Dixie!

    1. Good evening, Shady. We're rolling towards midnight, Friday here. I took a moment to watch, 'Raging Waters,' before commenting. What a video, and no, I don't recall ever seeing it. It does have what I refer to as 'quality exercise music;' those tunes that make me get up and move! You're so right about 'soulful jazz.' Al's voice is so distinct. As soon as the song begins you know that voice! You must have had a lot of pleasure in that occupation - I think I would have had a blast.

The last of the big flower beds, and I will be tango-ing this weekend - barring any more rain. Thank you, and I hope your weekend is lovely, (smile).

'MOONLIGHTING' is one of my very, Very, VERY favorite TV shows of all time. Absolutely love the theme song, too. In fact, I have the 'Moonlighting' CD soundtrack. (I also have every episode they ever filmed on DVD sets.)

    1. Ooh, ~ D-FensDogG!

Every episode?? I could see me doing a MOONLIGHTING binge-fest! This show was just so hot and fresh. Besides the characters' playoffs, the story-lines were good. So I find myself feeling pea-green with envy... every episode? I didn't realize there was a Moonlighting soundtrack. Usually when I heard this song, I knew I had three minutes until, "couch down." Ha! Hope this brought good memories to your mind.

Have a lovely weekend under that big Nevada sky!

  3. That second song was very happy in a bit of a dorky way (not a bad thing) ;)

    1. Mike, Dorky is an excellent description. I wonder if you've ever seen a Disney movie called, "Song of the South"? same sort fo dorky and happy-go-lucky stuff.

Oh, your comedy skit was too funny!!

You've seen 'SONG OF THE SOUTH'? Woo-Hoo! My favorite Disney movie of all time (have both DVD and VHS copies of it and watched it again about 3 weeks ago).

And when I say it's my favorite Disney movie, that's saying A LOT because I love and own so many of the Disney classics - you know, the stuff from when Walt himself was still alive (not this p.c., mixed-gender, social engineering crap they put out now).

'Lady And The Tramp', 'Dumbo', 'Pinnochio' ("Okaaay, Lampy!"), '101 Dalmatians', 'Peter Pan', etc. Love that stuffs!

I know what made you think of 'SONG OF THE SOUTH' - it was that little animated bluebird Al was interacting with, right? Yeah, me too.

One moment that ALWAYS makes me Guffaw-Out-Loud in 'SONG OF THE SOUTH' (and I know it's not supposed to make me laugh) is when Johnny goes running across that bull's field in his little red suit. Ha!-Ha! I really can't help myself - I have this "Black Comedy" streak in me that just won't quit.

But I always get kinda teary-eyed at the very end when Uncle Remus has to rub his eyes and finds, to his own amazement, that "It's real, it's actual! Everything is satisfactual!" One of the best movie endings ever.

    4. ~ D-FensDogG...
Your home must be wall to wall Audio-Visual! What a great collection to own. Yes, it was the little blue bird... good guess! I can't believe you laugh at Johnny, my goodness! (Well, maybe). "Black Comedy" streak - TMI. All of those you listed are treasures. It would be nice to revisit them all. Lucky you, zippitty- do! (smile)

  4. Oooh, this speaks to me. Stephen got me into Moonlighting. I love both the show and that song. And some Al Jarreau. What a fun music video that second one is.

It's unfair, though. Any time I sing to birds I'm insane, but Al does it and he's a musical legend. :(

Yes, it does speak to some. That little harmonica has me going up to those goose bumps in the sky. You remember that Norman Greenbaum song, right?

Not to worry - when you're Moonlighting, the birds are asleep. More than likely, people will think you're insane because you're baying at the moon. When I first encountered you two I knew you'd be legends of a different kind. I saw the movie.
