Don't Worry Baby

This is another one of those songs that I want to play over and over. I get a peaceful feeling deep inside. For me it's not about a man... go figure. It takes me back to the days of parents. Yep, you read that right. For instance, I walked down to the lower forty where I planted tomatoes. The lower forty is an adjacent lot I own. The parents always had a huge vegetable garden, fruit trees, and grape vines. Over the years, I've picked okra until I itched to death! Well, close.

Fast forward to this year and how little I was able to accomplish. I could list some four letter words but what good would it do me? No lime in the soil, and you get no tomatoes. Sorry Dad, I forgot. I know... "don't worry, baby, right?!!"

Lots of work to do on the grape arbor. I'm so glad I kept the metal posts and chicken wire. Guy down the street is going to help me install it again. The purple grape vines are climbing the pear trees... can't let that continue! I think I may have lost the green grapes. The root stock may be salvageable... time will tell. Sorry Mom, I got too sick when I needed to be down there. I know... "don't worry, baby."

Okay, one more listen and I have to go measure the brick wall. It's not going to replace the mortar by itself. (If horses were wishes, beggars would ride.)

See everyone on Sept. 1st. Meanwhile the Beach Boys do the song!

  2. Hi, dear Dixie! It's great to see you, my friend (smile). "Don't Worry Baby" is one of my favorite Beach Boys recordings, a fab flip that could easily have reached the top 10 as an A side. In the spring of 1964, the Beach Boys' "I Get Around" b/w "Don't Worry Baby" along with The Beatles' "Please Please Me" b/w "From Me To You" and The Dave Clark Five's "Do You Love Me" b/w "Chaquita," became the first three 45 rpm records I ever collected. I purchased them all the same day at a discount store in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Thank you for sharing the meaning and significance of "Don't Worry Baby" in your life, dear Dixie. I think about you often and eagerly await your return. Bless you!

    1. Thank you, Shady. I wax nostalgic this time of year (smile).

To me, the strange thing was to be so young, and like so many different styles of music. I hope the Srpt 1st battle goes well.

      Bless you too, friend.

  3. Dixie, I've missed you! Sounds like you have a lot going on, but you have a handle on it.

This is a major feel good song. We need about a hundred more...looping!

    1. Hi Cherdo! I've missed you bunches. I haven't had a decent laugh in weeks. I think the Beach Boys kind of grew on me. I loved Motown.

At least I'm not crawling anymore. I got tired of being tired. You know? See you on the 1st, dear heart,

    1. Hi Lee!

It took me two days to get to your blog with an answer. My goodness - I'm about as anti-political as it gets.

I'm glad we had a tune to suit you!!! Nice to be back, thank you.

Hokey-Smoke and Hoo-Wee! Glad to have you back!

And, as you already know, the BEACH BOYS are one of my all-time, all-time favorite musical acts. And THIS song is one of my very favorite BEACH BOYS recordings. I mean, REALLY one of my very favorites. Top 10, for sure.

'THE WARMTH OF THE SUN' is my favorite.
After that, it gets tough... "Good Vibrations", "The Girls On The Beach", "Long Promised Road", "All Summer Long", "Caroline No", "Pet Sounds", "Let's Go Away For Awhile" (one of the greatest instrumental tracks of all time!), "Let Him Run Wild"... I think that's my Top 10, but I'm sure I'm forgetting several that I could slip in there.

...Oh, wait! "Good Timin'", "Friends", "Heroes And Villains", "Do It Again"... Shit! What a great, Great, GREAT group that was! I could go on and on listing my Top Ten favorite songs. Ha!

So glad yer OK, and that you're back with us again. I really missed you (and your BOTB contests).

    1. ~ D-FensDogG,

It's a mood I've got going on right now - the Beach Boys are part of reliving moments - not just memories. Moments so vivid I can taste the salt air and hear the ocean crashing at the shoreline. Hot dang! Tomorrow's BOTB for me continues that mood. It's that early adventure in freedom - revisited. Okay... moving on.

I'm glad the dcrelief team could spin one of your favorites! Don't you just love the blue striped shirts? I do. I liked "Help Me Rhonda", which is about the only one you didn't list, I think. Really there are so many...

Try not to make me sound good. People will expect incredible battles and such. All I add is some heart and a tuning fork. Ha! The rest is pure luck. Still it's nice to be missed, thank you.
