One day, I'm gwanna cross dat bridge.

Okay Mom, this one's for you...

Do you remember that night you stopped by apartment, talking about some nice little band you met backstage? Then you whipped out autographed photos from "The Eagles," saying, look Dixie, you ever heard of them? And ~ I fell off of my footstool... in shock. Yes ma'am.

April is always a tricky month for me. Give God a hug from me.

  1. That's a fantastic story. And what a keepsake! Oh, the naivety of mothers.

My mother-in-law, who's a maid for a prestigious Las Vegas hotel, once met Will I Am because he was locked out of his room (in a t-shirt and boxers, no less) and he needed her help to get back in. After doing so he said he'd love to thank her by playing her a song. He asked what her favorite song of his was... and she said, "I love your song Give Me The Green Light."

    (1) That's a John Legend song. 2) It's not even the right title)

So Will I Am whipped out his guitar and played it/sang it anyway and never said anything to her about it. She had no idea until she relayed this story to my wife and I, and you should have seen the look of horror my wife got in her eyes when her mother basically told her that she asked a huge musical star, in his skivvies, to play a song that wasn't even his.

  2. Your story is fantastic, I love it. I usually don't read all the comments on a post but A Beer for the Shower's tale made me laugh - and also think kindly of Will I. Am from this point forward!

  3. Yeah I think I've heard of that band... Didn't they have a couple of small hits in the 70s?

    1. I never know when Bands existed without looking them up. That's what makes me so lousy at BOTB, Michael!! I think my Mom met them in mid 80s...by then I had heard several songs of theirs. LOL
