A favorite song day

Keith Urban has been around for some time now. This is one of his songs I like. The lyrics are fine, but that's not what draws me. I'm not completely country, and really this song has never felt like a country song. That said, I really enjoy the guitar, the bass, the piano, and other instruments. I like the blending that went into this that makes it so easy (for me) to listen to, many times over. I never tire of it. I enjoy the voices harmonizing. The short piano interlude is nice, and flows well from segment into another. The end guitar might put some off if it seems to 'wail' too much, but overall, I think it closes out the song nicely. Enough... here's the song.

  1. I'm not into country music, but I really respect him as an artist. Plus he was a great addition to American Idol.

    1. You know what's funny? The country people around here don't think Keith's country.

Yeah, he seems to know instruments... plays different ones. When he first set this song up, he played all tracks, then had the band listen, and add what should be changed...

  2. This definitely is NOT "Country" music. It's "Pop"... or basic Rock. In 1976, NO ONE would have called this "Country", because what was "Country" then is Country; most of what is called "Country" today is so un-Countryfied that it's 1980s or '90s "Rock".

Never heard the song before. It's not bad. Could grow on me, maybe. But the rhythm and background music sounds too much like U2 to me. (Most U2 songs sound just like THAT!) If it weren't for the vocals and the lead guitar (the latter being the best part of the song, in my op), I would have thought this was a U2 recording.

Anyway, glad you're back with us in BOTB, DIXIE POLKA!

If you have any trouble stamping your BOTB blog bits with your own personality, just Email what you have to me and I will edit it and make it your own.

    Am I funny or what?!

    1. U2 - no need to insult the boy. It's the only song of his I like. Of course, I'm in it for the bass, the piano, that lovely end guitar bit, and the big bridge. You're right, though, he isn't country.

      You said what?

You know what bothers me? (Yeah, I'm gonna tell you.) That you think you know my personality well enough to pull it off. I feel like I've stepped into the barn yard of your imagination. Don't think I'm not appreciative... and I really do think you're funny, and what...

      Okay, that went well.

No, I don't know it well enough.
I was just going to make it up as I went along.

How about 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' as the first Rap song? I'm not saying it is, but I've seen where others have said so.

    3. WOW! Watched it twice. I was doing the happy dance for the cue cards.Whoa!

      Yeah, this will work.

Ironically, when you see my battle you will realize that this freaked me out. You see, in my post I ask a question of myself... and my answer is, "squat." Since seeing this "rap rendering," I ponder changing my answer to something more illustrious. Nah!

This is so funny... more than you know right now. It's brilliant, but don't ever do this again. It's too ironic. Comic ironic. Ha!

    1. Hi Deanie. I'm glad you stopped over. My 'Battle of the Bands' blog hop is Sunday. Would love for you to come listen, and vote on which song version you like. We do this twice a month.

Rap is a strange thing to me. I swear the earliest rap was by Porter Wagoner, Jerry Reed, or maybe those trucking guys with the convoys? LOL. (Think, "Rubber Duckie").
