Lounging ~ In My Room

Hello!

Looks like I'll be off of BOTB for a while longer. Five therapy sessions, and I've only begun my health restoration. It is very challenging. The homework exercises leave me exhausted. I do see a small margin of improvement. This will take more time than I originally thought.

I'm trying to not let this discourage me, though I had no idea how bad things were. Awareness has tempted me to lose hope, but my stubborn nature won't let me. (smile).

Meanwhile, one of my favorite Beach Boy songs... I fell in love with it in high school. Everybody knows that high school brings its on set of frustrations, secrets, and heartaches... right?! Back then I had my own room where I kept my entire life compartmentalized. Ironically I now own the house which includes that very room.  Times have changed though, and I find my computer- art studio to be the new room of choice. It has a great big window I can view life through. I keep telling myself, "Come October I'll walk the long pathway to my gazebo." For now I must be content to view it through the window.

I hope summer has brought lots of treasure to each of you. Hard to believe we're on the verge of the Fall season, right?! Okay, here's the tune.

  1. That's a great song. My son and I watched Love and Mercy a few days ago. We liked it. We're going to see Brian Wilson. He doesn't know it, but I'm sure he'll be glad we're there. It's his Pet Sounds fiftieth anniversary tour. I might even get a new dress that's in early sixties style. Willy Dunne Wooters' favorite song is God Only Knows.

    1. Wow! Can I say I'm envious?!! No, not about the new dress, though I'd love to get a new one, (smile).

There's so many songs that I love of The each Boys - hard to have a favorite.

      You two have fun, Janie.

  2. Hi, Dixie!

"In My Room" is a great Beach Boys song, one of my favorites. It is a ballad that triggers happy memories for countless boomers and resonates with younger generations.

I am very sorry to learn that you are having a tough go of it with your health, dear friend. If you can mark just a little improvement each week you will surely gain hope, strength and stamina and continue on the road to recovery. Knowing that you are "poorly" as they used to say on Downton Abbey, it means all the more to me that you came over to SDMM for a visit. Sending special prayers your way, dear friend Dixie!

    1. Thank you, Shady. I couldn't believe I only recognized lyrics from two songs on your post. I'm feeling a bit older.

You are right about "In My Room." Thank you for the prayers; I greatly appreciate them, and you.

    1. Thank you, Mac. The hardest part is to avoid judging my own progress. Depression is not an option I want added into the whole recovery process.

Keep the place setting there... I'll be back!

  6. Sorry to hear of your situation. Get back in shape in time for winter!

I used to listen to "In My Room" in my room back in my junior high school days. The version I had was from the Beach Boys in concert album. It was a favorite from that album.

  7. That's a good point. Most people always think of high school-age kids when they think of being secluded in your room, but I've always been like that. Hell, I'm typing this now from my secluded office.

Keep feeling better! The way we see it, you're just building up more anticipation to your next great battle.

  9. Hi Dixie -

Thanks for the Beach Boys. This particular song of theirs always tries to make me melancholy, though. It has a "weepy" quality about it. Perhaps that is how you are feeling?? If so, fight it.

I am sorry that you are being challenged, but I am confident that you will prevail! Can't wait to have you back for more BOTB selections.
