You guys really turned this into a tight voting experience. The end result was 'sooo' very close.
Thank you for voting in my battle. The comments were great. I wonder what makes each of you 'tick'... and those comments keep me laughing and pondering what song to hit you with next time. Speaking of NEXT - be here (please) for our next battle on June 1st.
Thank you, Fae, and Stephen T. McCarthy ... our co-hosts for this fun musical event!

Winner: Four Tops @ 11 votes
Bee Gees @ 10 votes (including mine).
With a battle THIS close, I'm leaving you with a song from each.
I'm dedicating this Four Tops number to me, because I didn't vote for them - sorry guys.
I've chosen a version from 'The Midnight Special- 1975' show-casing the high part sung by Maurice Gibb. Later versions have Barry singing those high notes. Why? You tell me. Maurice always sang the high notes... until Barry's falsetto came along, I guess.
Here we go...
Hi, Dixie!
ReplyDeleteAnother squeaker! Congratulations, dear friend! This is the second BOTB result post I visited today in which I was on the side that lost by one vote. At least I am happy to know that your ears matched mine this time.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, dear friend Dixie!
Shady, I so understand. I could not resist going with the Gibbs. I hope my CD player doesn't retaliate and stop working!!
DeleteThank you very much for playing. Hope I'll see you June 1st.
Fantastic Battle, DIXIE!
ReplyDelete'NIGHTS ON BROADWAY', that's a great song. It's so funky and it has that "chicken-scratch" rhythm guitar thing goin' on which appeals to me so much.
I wish my Battle had been even remotely as close. Hell, I'd have been happy with a 5-vote spread. I was Mr. Blowout this time.

Thank you. I played Nights on Broadway because you mentioned, before, that you liked it. it wasn't the usual Bee Gees disco... blah, blah, so forth.
DeleteActually, your battle did not surprise me (much). Eddie was going to be the fave pitted against the long-hairs.
I still would like to hear if Chuck Berry did it. I'll have to look it up. Cheer up... it'll be June 1st. before we know it. Ample time to wrap your head around a more challenging battle. We're all cheering for ya!

That was a good one! I liked them both, but just thought the Bee Gees song had more content to it. Can't go wrong with the Motown groups though.

Arlee, I totally agree.
DeleteGreat battle! My poor Bee Gees, how much more can they take? It's been a rough decade and they're dropping like...Bee Gees.
ReplyDeleteLoved it, Dixie!
Aw, Cherdo... I do understand!
DeleteWow, it really doesn't get any closer than that. We always say it, but that was a killer battle. You really are a BOTB master.
ReplyDeleteAnd ah, Maurice. The most underrated member. He was so talented. Those three, what they lacked in fashion sense (look at those clothes!) they more than made up for in musical ability.
Master battler? Hmm, there's one for the books.
DeleteI know... crazy clothes... but I loved their music!
Glad you two could play in this battle. I appreciate your comments and votes!!!
That was an exciting battle and I'm not surprised it was so close. Thanks for posting "Nights on Broadway". Love it! ☺
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debbie. Nights on Broadway is a fave of mine too!
DeleteA close is truly what this BOTB is all about. I congratulate you on this great battle, and I congratulate myself on picking the winner. :)
