Battle 12 Results ~ another brick in the wall?

Welcome to RESULTS DAY for Battle of the Bands!!

I am dc ~ relief, and my battle featured the song: "Hello Walls." The challengers were Esther Phillips versus Dwight Yokum! Thank you to everyone who visited, voted, left a comment, or just listened and jumped off!

Wow - this was so close I thought it would tie, but no... let's see what happened.

Esther took off with a strong string of votes. That soulful version hit home with quite a few... but Dwight would not be left standing in the dust, oh no! He took the next round of votes like a champ. A couple of days went past and Esther, once again gained ground. They were neck and neck into the stretch home. Whoa! Esther took the lead by two votes... then I cast mine for Dwight ('cause there ain't nothing like a tight pair of leathers... I mean... I like his version more! (smile). Drum roll...

Esther Phillips - 10 votes

Dwight Yokum - 9 votes (including mine)

Thank you for your participation! Let's not forget...

A very special thank you to our event hosts:

Your interest in joining this blogging event would be most welcomed. Please go to Stephen T. McCarthy's blog, leave your name and blog link in the comment box!

Congratulations, Esther!

  1. Hi, dear Dixie! Isn't that something? These races are often like political elections, nail biters right to the end. Thanks for letting us know how this seesaw battle turned out. Happy Father's Day to you and have a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Dixie!

    1. Hi Shady! I know you voted for Esther - truly a soulful version. My 'motown' side was screaming at me, but I took Dwight.

      Thank you, (smile).

  2. Both versions of this song were so good, I'm not at all surprised that the outcome was so close. I voted for Dwight, but don't really feel bad that he didn't win. He made a fine showing here and Esther was good in her own right.

Personally, I think the closer the voting results the better the BATTLE.

    1. Hi Fae!

      >"I voted for Dwight, but don't really feel bad that he didn't win."

That's the best compliment, Fae! When you can walk away satisfied with the winner - no matter what. Thank you, (smile).

    HA!

This was a great, great Battle, DIXIE POLKA, and the closeness of the end result is proof (as if any more proof was needed).

I had to listen to both versions all the way through more than once before I felt I could cast my vote. That's how tight my leathers we--- I mean, that's how tight my vote was.

Looking forward to your next one, 'cause you got this thing down now. Meanwhile, I've had two lopsided Battles in a row. So much being a BOTB master.

Well, I love that statement. That gives me a great feeling of accomplishment. I did that too when researching. When the versions grab my attention so much so, that I can't make an immediate choice, I know the battle will be fun.

Um -- about those leathers of yours -- might we expect a "soundtrack of your life," some day?? Ha!

I'll head your way to see how rare the earth moved people. Thank you for your support, and kind compliments.

  6. Interesting battle with two completely different styles. I chose the winner, but this obviously could have gone either way. Nice one! ☺

    1. Cherdo, I am most often surprised at how my battles go. Having taken lessons from the Lounge King - it seems easier. I hope he doesn't start charging. Ha!
