  2. Hi, dear Dixie! Well, you put on a great show here, and it was by no means a blow-out. I usually go for a recording that has more power in the production and Patty's has it. In addition, it's hard to ignore the slick, high budget black and white video that accompanied the song.

I hope your Thursday is going well, dear friend Dixie, and I'll see you again soon!

    1. Hi Shady - guessing you're still a traveling man?! I don't think blow outs are really that much fun. I like to see the closer battles. In fact, it surprised me that Mary didn't get more votes. Maybe once my vote base enlarges (he he he, I can hope.)

The week brought lots of incidents to deal with; I apologize for my late response to your comment. Have a very pleasant weekend.

  3. Oh poor Mary. I really do like her on most things, but here Patty just blew her out of the water. All that being said MCC has a pretty decent showing from her more loyal fans. Ya can't beat that with a stick.

    1. Aw, Fae - you know yourself... given another time and it might have been in Mary's favor. I think she was very good and had no way of knowing which way the wind would blow. I made the decision to put up two totally different versions.

I do wonder if I had pitted Seger against Patty, who would have taken it. His version being similar to Mary's but having possibly a bigger fan base. Maybe?

Enjoy your weekend, and especially Sunday!

  4. DIXIE POLKA ~
Before I start totaling up my own votes and announcing the winner (I still don't know who it was), I wanted to come by here and congratulate you on another fine BOTB installment.

Although you had a clear winner (and to my surprise, I also put in a vote for that eventual winner), a 15-6 outcome is certainly respectable. I wish I could say that ALL of my BOTB contests were as close as that. Although I've not (yet) had a shutout, I HAVE had a few blowouts. This was by no means a blowout.

I look forward to your June 1st offering.

    1. ~D-FensDogG, I agree, definitely not a blow out... but interesting to see it teeter-totter.

I just stopped by your blog before coming here. Glad those pesky B-52's and their lobster drowned! I left you a note about the 1980's movie, but I'm not sure if that counts, as I didn't watch the whole movie years ago. When the B-52's came on, I ditched the show, and I think I watched National Geo. (Ha!)

Here's to June 1 and lots more fun!

  5. I still prefer Mary's version though I still think Patty does a nice job pulling off her best female Bruce Springsteen take.

    1. Oh, Lee, I will never forget your earlier comment! The more I think about it, the more I laugh. I wonder if Bruce ever cut a version of this song?

I'll do something for Mary later on in the year!!

  6. Both versions were good, IMO, but even though my choice didn't win, I still liked Patty's. Great battle!

    1. Hi Julie. I was glad Patty won, but then I would have felt the same if Mary had won - I really enjoyed the two versions.

Doing much better, thank you. I appreciate your vote in my battles.
